10-km walk to honor Eid al-Qadir in Iran

Tehran municipality is set to mount a symbolic 10-kilometer walk to commemorate Eid al-Qadir.

The symbolic walk will kick off from Vali-e Asr Street in Iranian capital city of Tehran to Parkway crossroads.

During the festival, which spreads as long as 10 kilometers, religious delegations, volunteer groups and Quranic/cultural institutions have announced readiness to offer their programs and services.

Firework displays and decorated squares and streets as well as installing artistic elements related to the concepts and messages of the great Eid, known as Eid al-Qdir, are some preparatory works by Tehran municipality.

Eid al-Ghadir is one of the most important festivities in the Islamic calendar. It marks the time when the Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH) appointed Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) as the next Caliph of Muslims and the religious leader or Imam.

This year, the auspicious event falls on July 18 in Iran.
